Web Design: Organizing a Website
The vast majority of people are going to use the internet when they are looking for products and services. Therefore, if you want to reach out to your target market, you need to have a strong online presence. Of course, not all websites are created equal. You want your website to be friendly to search engines as well as your visitors. What do you need to keep in mind when you are organizing your website? There are a few simple tips that you follow.
Simplify Your Website: Place Yourself in the Shoes of Your Visitors
First, you need to simplify your website as much as possible. Place yourself in the shoes of your website visitors. How are they going to react when they visit your website? Some of the factors you need to consider include:
- Is there a menu that makes it easy for your visitors to find what they are looking for? Make sure the buttons are large, conspicuous, and functional.
- Is your website design going to overwhelm your visitors? Even though you want to provide your visitors with plenty of information, nobody likes to see a giant wall of text when they visit a website. Make sure your design is friendly, straightforward, and welcoming.
- Do your visitors know what you want them to do? If you want them to leave their e-mail address or sign up for a list, make this clear. If you would like your visitors to pick up the phone and call you, make this clear as well. This is referred to as a “call to action,” and can drive up your conversion rates.
When designing a website, simple is better. Think about how your visitors are going to respond to your website as you design it.
Include Links To Your Social Media Pages
As you design your website, you should also include links to your social media pages. That way, you can direct your website traffic to your social media profiles (and vice versa) where you can continue the conversation.
Directing your visitors to your social media pages is a great place to start; however, you also want to interact with them. If you interact with your website visitors directly through social media, they know that you value their opinions. This will make it more likely for them to return to your website in the future.
If you run a small business or startup company, you have to have a strong online presence. The foundation of your online presence will be your website. As your digital storefront, this is going to be the first impression that a lot of people have about your company and your brand. That is why the webdesign process is so important.
